
On January 15, 2025, the Center for Artificial Intelligence General Education, Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University was officially established. The Center is advised by Academician Zhang Bo of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, with Professor Ma Shaoping serving as Director and Associate Research Fellow Wang Dong from the National Information Center serving as Deputy Director. Core team members include Professor Zhang Min and Associate Professor Ai Qingyao from the Department of Computer Science and Technology.
In recent years, artificial intelligence has advanced rapidly, exerting a profound impact on productivity improvement and overall social progress. Against this backdrop, strengthening young students’ foundational AI literacy and cultivating high-quality builders who can meet the needs of an intelligent society have become key tasks related to the country’s future development strategy, as well as an important historical mission for institutions of higher education.
Drawing on the Department of Computer Science and Technology’s deep academic foundation and extensive experience in AI popularization and teaching, the Center for Artificial Intelligence General Education, Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University actively explores innovative methods and practical pathways for AI General Education (AIGE). The Center aims to build an AI general education theoretical system and teaching framework with Chinese characteristics and continuity across primary, secondary, and higher education. It provides authoritative, systematic, and forward-looking AI knowledge to the public and young learners, cultivating responsible and creative builders for the AI era.
