From July 26 to 30, the National Symposium on AI General Education (AIGE 2026), held jointly with the Exchange Conference on Tsinghua's AI General Education System for Primary, Secondary, and Higher Education, took place in Xixian New Area, Shaanxi Province. Under the theme "Building a Scientific System, Advancing Curriculum Practice," the conference drew nearly 200 experts, scholars, and teacher representatives from more than 20 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across China.
At the opening ceremony, Le Sun, Secretary-General of the Chinese Information Processing Society of China (CIPS) and Researcher at the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered remarks on behalf of the organizers. He congratulated the newly established CIPS Working Committee on Science Popularization and Education, and called on its members to spread true knowledge, to truly spread knowledge, and to see that knowledge is genuinely spread. Ying Zhang, Party Secretary and Executive Principal of Qinhan School in Xixian New Area, and Ying Liang, Party Committee Member and Deputy Director of Tsinghua University Press, spoke on behalf of the host school and the co-organizers respectively, expressing the hope that the conference would gather collective wisdom and spark new thinking to advance AI general education in China. Dong Wang, Deputy Director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence General Education, Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, and Associate Researcher at the Beijing National Research Center for Information Science and Technology, presented the conference preparations and agenda on behalf of the Program Committee.

In the keynote session, Academician Bo Zhang of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, spoke on "AI Literacy Education for Primary and Secondary School Students," offering a systematic account of its necessity, objectives, implementation pathways, and prospects. Presentations followed from Shaoping Ma, Director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence General Education, Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, on "Building Tsinghua's AI General Education System for Primary, Secondary, and Higher Education"; Yonghai Zhu, Deputy Dean of the Institute of AI Education, Capital Normal University, on "An International Comparison of AI Literacy Frameworks and a Comparative Analysis of Regional Curriculum Cases"; Dong Wang, on "Frontier Advances in Artificial Intelligence"; Jifan Yu, Assistant Professor of AI Education at the Institute of Education, Tsinghua University, and head of OpenMAIC, on "AI-Native Educational Applications for Cognitive Enhancement"; Changshan Lin, Director of the Research Office at Tsinghua University Primary School, on "Exploring a Situated Ecological Model for the Early Cultivation of Regional AI Innovation Talent"; Wenkun Tang of the Science and Technology Office at Tsinghua University High School, on "Building and Applying a Vertical AI Model for 'Rose Whispers' Thematic Teaching"; and Liuhao Li, Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Cente at Qinhan School, Xixian New Area, on "AI General Education at Qinhan School, Xixian New Area, Shaanxi Province: An Experience Report."
The conference received 148 paper submissions, of which 48 were presented in parallel sessions and 65 in poster displays, covering the theory of AI general education, practical research, classroom case studies, and explorations of AI-enabled education. Seven special topics were organized around industry engagement, international perspectives, ethical boundaries, interdisciplinary innovation, and other areas of current interest. Following review, eight papers, two posters, and two special topics were recognized as highlights.
On the evening of July 27, the CIPS Working Committee on Science Popularization and Education convened its first in-person meeting. Shaoping Ma introduced the committee's founding purpose and mission, encouraging members to contribute actively to the advancement of AI science popularization and education in China. The meeting was chaired by Dong Wang.

The National Symposium on AI General Education was organized by the CIPS Working Committee on Science Popularization and Education together with the Center for Artificial Intelligence General Education, Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University; hosted by Qinhan School, Xixian New Area, Shaanxi Province; and co-organized by the Education and Sports Bureau of Xixian New Area, Tsinghua University Press, Tsinghua University High School, and Tsinghua University Primary School, with support from several enterprises.
